[Special Preview] Take Em To The Bridge Challenge — An Alpha Posse Exclusive
It’s time to Take Em To The Bridge!
Each month, we guide our Alpha Posse members through a fun skill-based, month-long challenge with tutorial videos, special interviews, and ongoing feedback and advice from our GMB Trainers.
The bridge is a key stretch that can help you improve your spinal health, your range of motion in your shoulders, and also strengthen your arms.
Having a good bridge is also a necessary foundational movement for performing more complex skills like the macaco, front walkover, back walkover, and also the back handspring.
In this particular challenge, we’re going to approach this skill a little differently. Rather than just focusing on the bridge movement itself and holding it statically, we are first going to assess our weak points and work on improving those. Once you’re ready, we’ll then work on the actual bridge movement. In the third part of this challenge, we will also practice some transitions for taking yourself into and out of the bridge.
The fun begins Friday, July 3rd and we’ll choose a winner on July 31st! Want to join us in this challenge?
For your bridge work, start off with your most basic bridge for the very first attempt. Just hang out there a bit. For the second attempt, I suggest pushing up a little bit further and using your hands and feet to gently push you back and forth as you push away from the ground. Go easy with it and make sure that you aren’t holding your breath or squeezing your butt. On the remaining attempts, work on going even deeper each time.
