Fix What’s Slowing You Down (and actually enjoy it)

You might already know what’s slowing you down.

Your hip that stays tight no matter how much you stretch it. That hitch in the movement when you sit down that feels clumsy. The exercise you dread because it never seems to improve.

And when you finally have ten spare minutes to work on it, choosing between the thousand different drills you’ve seen is overwhelming. So your Insta feed chooses for you: scroll, spot something that might help, copy the shape, feel nothing change.

Because random work doesn’t work.

For over a decade, we’ve taught locomotor exercises that expose the weak links conventional training misses: the angles, transitions, and positions where your body loses strength or control.

Clear the bottleneck and everything downstream improves.

Animal Rx finds your sticking point and gives you the exact movements to fix it.

AAA

1: Assess

Run through five quick checkup movements, then answer a few questions in the assessment tool. It reads how you’re actually moving today and takes about three minutes.

2: Address

You get a short prescription: a few movements matched to your current limits, each with a full coached tutorial. Practice them 5-15 minutes at a time, alongside whatever you already train, for 2-3 weeks.

3: Apply

Retest. Feel the difference in your regular training, bank the win, and pull your next prescription. Capabilities change over weeks, so the cycle repeats monthly. Never daily.

That AAA loop has been part of our programs since 2012. Animal Rx makes it more explicit than ever.

47 Movement Tutorials with Detailed Coaching

Each movement includes a full tutorial showing Ryan coaching a student through learning it: how to approach the movement, what common errors look like, and how to scale anything that’s difficult at first.

This is deep instruction, well past the quick-demo standard.

You’ll know what you’re supposed to feel, and what to change when you don’t feel it.

47 Movements, Three Kinds of Work

Dynamic Range: 🦋 🦆 🪱 🦄+

Mobility under control. These movements take your hips, spine, and shoulders through honest end ranges while your body is working, so the new range actually sticks.

Force and Control: 🐊 🐌 🐆 🦘+

Strength in awkward positions. Low, loaded patterns that make your muscles carry your bodyweight through angles no machine will ever ask of you.

Applied Skill: 🐠 🐎 🐙 🐚+

Agility and coordination. Rolls, hops, and transitions that teach your body to organize itself in motion, at floor level and back up again.

Where These Movements Come From

Ryan has taught these patterns for thirty years: first as judo warm-ups drilled up and down the mat in Japan, then as the curriculum at his gym in Osaka, and for the past fifteen years to clients in over 100 countries. Every tutorial carries that mileage.

The assessment logic comes from Dr. Jarlo Ilano, PT, DPT, OCS, our co-founder and a physical therapist since 1998. The playfulness is real. So are the credentials behind it.

Bonus: A Masterclass for Trainers and Coaches

If you teach movement, these tutorials show you exactly how to coach these patterns, from setup to common errors to progressions.

It’s $49 continuing education.

The Actual Secret Sauce

YouTube has thousands of “animal movement” compilations. Nearly all are quick demos with zero coaching detail, so you spend hours guessing what you’re supposed to feel and why it’s not working.

Animal Rx gives you the instruction that makes these movements actually useful, and the assessment that tells you which ones are worth your time.

Buy it once. Keep it forever. Come back to it every time a new limitation shows up.

Field Reports

“I just did my first real session of this. I am floored at how much I learned in 30 minutes… I didn’t think I would learn anything new about myself, but I learned that I’m kind of a spiral shape, lol. Modified pigeon to the left: super easy. To the right… whoa, hard stuff. Left internal and right external rotation are hard!”

SUZANNE A.

“From Bear and Crab into Squat being a great activation-mobility primer, to the mini surprise present of exercises I never know will show up, to the way I can tailor it to how I’m doing that day… am just loving it! What a great way to mix up my routine.”

CHRIS H.

How is this different from Elements?

This bears almost zero similarities to Elements beyond the fact that both use locomotor exercises.

Elements is the core of our entire curriculum of training. It’s a broad, structured, progressive program that builds your foundation of strength, mobility, and movement skill.

Animal Rx is targeted add-on work. It finds the specific factors slowing your progress and gives you movements to address them, alongside whatever program you’re running.

Different purpose, different scope, different delivery. They stack nicely.

How is this different from a mobility app?

Mobility apps subscribe you to libraries of passive stretching. Useful as far as it goes, but a stretch only changes what you can reach, and you keep paying rent on it every month.

Animal Rx prescribes movement patterns that build strength, range, and control in the same rep, with detailed coaching on each one. Your body gets strong in the new range, which is how the new range sticks.

And you pay once.

Why animal movements?

We use animal names because ‘Bear’ is easier to remember than “pronated contralateral quadrupedal locomotion.”

Humans are animals too, so when you think about it, there’s really no exercise that isn’t animal movement.

We also believe that human physicality should be based on motion and integration rather than stationary isolation of individual muscles. Locomotor exercises like these stimulate your nervous system as well as your muscles, and provide a full range of motion in each “rep.”

Is this actually gonna make me stronger?

If you choose exercises based on strength, yes. Here’s an example of how locomotion can build strength.

Your muscles don’t know the difference between lifting your body and lifting a weight, and it’s completely possible to build strength with bodyweight exercise.

Will deadlifting build your large muscles faster? Absolutely.

Will it also work your smaller muscles effectively in every range of motion? Usually not. Which is why movements like these are also a great complement to traditional lifting.

What if I have shoulder/knee/back issues?

Then please take care of those appropriately.

Animal Rx offers 47 options, and you can choose the ones that work for you while avoiding any that your current condition may contraindicate.

And if you know that one or more issues are related to a specific weak or tight area, you can choose Animal Rx movements that address those directly, which may help alleviate certain chronic aches and pains.

If you need medical help, get that.

This is a $49 course that includes exactly zero miracle healing.

What if I can't do some of the movements?

You absolutely should not find them all easy on your first try.

Being difficult is part of what makes them “training.”

The assessment tool will recommend movements that are appropriate to your level and needs, so you don’t have to worry about choosing the right moves to start with.

And each exercise includes a detailed tutorial with full details on how to learn and develop the movement. You’ll see Ryan coach a student through the setup, key movement cues, and common technical mistakes.

As you practice at your own level, you’ll be developing your capability to tackle more difficult movements over time.

Start where you’re at. Go from there.

Animal Rx can help you do that.

Do I need a lot of space?

Just enough to crawl around without bumping into too much furniture.

You don’t need special flooring or mats. You don’t need specific shoes or clothes. You don’t need equipment or expensive vibrating massage gadgets.

Got questions? Not sure this will work?

You’ve seen people doing movements like these as random challenges or general mobility work before.

Animal Rx gives you targeted variety that actually improves your training. The assessment tells you what to focus on. The tutorials show you how to do it right. And you can use it anywhere, anytime, in as little as 5 minutes.

It won’t replace your main program.

It’s not gonna get you jacked or solve complex issues like chronic back pain.

But when you need a bit extra to move past a sticking point, or want to give some attention to an area that’s a bit stiff or weak, it’s just what the doctor ordered.
