Stretching Doesn’t Have to Suck

Get Flex and Chill Course displayed on a laptop computer
Very few people actually seem to enjoy stretching… and that’s a real shame, because most of us also wish we were more flexible.

Part of the problem is that you probably learned to stretch wrong.

Someone had you sit down on the floor, stretch out your legs, bend over, and try to grab your toes. And when you couldn’t, they probably forced you further into the stretch until it hurt.

Well, yeah, if that’s your experience, you’d be right to hate stretching, but it doesn’t have to be that way.

Let GMB cofounder and physical therapist Jarlo Ilano show you a much more chill – and effective! – way to loosen up all those stiff areas and finally feel free in your body.

We created these routines to provide a clear blueprint to improving your flexibility for the activities and goals most requested by our clients.

First released in 2016 as an update to our original flexibility program, the 12 stretching routines in this course have been unavailable since we launched our Mobility program in 2020.

Now, as a holiday ‘thank you’ to the 90+ thousand clients who never got the chance to try them, we’ve given them a fresh coat of paint ๐Ÿ™‚

OK, maybe not, but there’s definitely something here for just about anyone.

No matter what kind of training you’re currently doing or what goals you’re planning for the next year, you’ll find a routine that helps you get there more effectively.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve also taken the liberty of including the answers here, since the questions aren’t very enlightening on their own ๐Ÿ˜‰

How is this different from the Mobility program?

This is a great question!

Mobility is designed to build your ability to move your body through a wider range of motion. It includes stretches like those in this course and movement exercises.

The routines that make up this course are aimed at increasing your access to various positions and more focused on creating freedom and ease while relaxed.

Both styles are useful and complementary.

While Mobility is a general, all-around program, the Get Flex routines are focused on specific needs and uses.

Do I have to have done Elements or Mobility first?

Nope. Though we do highly recommend those programs (which should be obvious… otherwise, we wouldn’t have made them), Get Flex is self-contained and will work alongside other training methods or on its own.

How long until I can do a split?

Everyone takes different amounts of time to get to specific milestones of fitness. If for not other reason, we all start from different places, and we have different daily routines and life situations.

You may never be able to do a split, but one thing we can guarantee is that, if you do the routines in this course consistently, you will improve your flexibility. Even if you don’t hit whatever arbitrary goal some influencer says you need to shoot for, any improvement at all is improvement.

Don’t get hung up on splits. Most people don’t need to do them.

Within 2-3 weeks, if you do these routines consistently, you will definitely notice improvement.

How much space do I need?

Get Flex doesn’t require much space at all. You can do it in front of your TV while watching The Grinch for the fiftieth time.

Do I need any kind of special equipment?

Nope!

Just a bit of floor. Maybe a chair.

Can stretching help rehabilitate prior injuries?

No. Or… not while they are still healing.

If a stretch hurts, back off. If you’re inured, heal before trying to add strain and stress to the area.

Being strong and flexible can help prevent injuries, and it can help recover after an injury is healed, but there is no magic in this world besides the taste of a fresh-baked pizza.

Got questions? Not sure this will work?

You’ve probably seen people say that stretching “doesn’t work,” and you’ve probably tried it before, so you’re not wrong to be skeptical.

But here’s the thing:

All those flexible people out there? 90% of them got that way by stretching.

I know, I know… It feels a lot nicer to dismiss them as freaks who were “born flexible” and didn’t have to work for it. And yes, some people truly do seem to win the genetic lottery on that, but most of us got here the hard way.

This is not some kind of trendy gimmick.

Everything in this course – the routines and the stretching protocol itself – are based on decades of experience and proven results.

Jarlo treated thousands of patients as a physical therapist and has continued his education with additional certifications and professional seminars every year.

Teaching GMB Fitness Flexibility Methods

The routines in this course have been tested by over 14,000 clients with our old Focused Flexibility program.

The only parts of this course that are unproven are the jokes.

At the end of the day, if you are not able to easily access all the ranges of motion you would like to, you should work on that. If you are suffering from chronic aches and pains that stem from tight muscles, you should work on that.

You owe it to yourself to learn how to stretch properly and to start devoting some time to taking care of your body.
